Sully

Sully
~ Tom Hanks, Director Clint Eastwood

Remember the day in January 2009 when a US Airways jet was forced to land in the Hudson River, right in the heart of NYC

This is the story of that flight and the story surrounding the aftermath, the investigation into the what and why did it happen

Very well done, and of course, a very feel good outcome

The Opposite of Loneliness
 by Marina Keegan

Times review

Huffington Post review

Short stories from a young writer, whose life was cut short by an auto accident.
I found most of them enlightening, told from the view of a young 20 something student in the early 21st Century.

Worth a look if you can find a copy, check your library

Love and Friendship
~ CVAG Film Series Fall 2016
first in a series of 5 films this season, presents an adaptation of a Jane Austen novel.

very well received by the audience, I enjoyed the characters, especially the main female character, the scheming Lady Susan.
Lots of laughs!

Florence Foster Jenkins (film).jpg

Florence Foster Jenkins
~ at the movies...
during birthday week, Mom and I went over to the Rialto for an afternoon showing of this Meryl Streep film. She's one of Moms favs.

Also starring Hugh Grant. I was pleasantly surprised here. Very touching the relationship between Florence (Bunny as he called her) and her husband.
The part of the pianist Cosmos, played by Simon Helberg, was very well acted and deserves recognition by the powers that do that sort of thing.

Hillary Clinton
~ 'Hard Choices'

Got this for pennies at a thrift shoppe, so why not? she may become President, let's see what she has to say....
GOOD, very detailed re: her years as Secretary of State.
Amazing, how many leaders she met and was able to converse with
She comes across as a tough negotiator, but with a sense of democratic liberal morality.
She went thru all the hot spots, the crises, and comes out looking pretty keen.
Someone who appears to be well qualified to be President.
